(1987 -1992)
“Foi por amor” was a street sketch that experimented with the theater of street performance. The actors quickly gathered and then performed in the most unlikely places such as bus lines, theater lobbies, parties, and street demonstrations. “Foi por amor” was also Galpão’s first clear statement about the specifically Brazilian reality. The play explicitly referred in a satirical way to crimes of passion at a time when there was a series of high profile controversial trials involving husbands who had murdered their wives and claimed they had done it “in defense of their honor.”
