(1988 - 1994)
This was the first real collaboration between Galpão and the director Eid Ribeiro after their first encounter during the text preparation in the rehearsals for “Harlequin.” “Corra enquanto é tempo” was a sarcastic view on the proliferation of religious groups that preyed on the desperate poor with their quackery. The play tells the story of a group of street preachers that has to fight with a transvestite for a good spot on the sidewalk. “Corra enquanto é tempo” is a landmark in the group’s career because it was the first performance in which the actors performed the music of the soundtrack, playing musical instruments and singing. This production was also the first in which Grupo Galpão worked with the voice coach and singer Babaya, a long-time partner of the group ever since.
