“A comédia da esposa muda” was Grupo Galpão’s second foray into the world of the commedia dell’arte. This time the company favored a different approach and adapted a canovaccio (a script provided a reference for the actors’ improvisation) by an anonymous author. Directed by Paulinho Polika, “A comédia da esposa muda” received great public acclaim and opened new opportunities for Galpão beyond Brazil. The play was in Galpão’s repertoire for almost ten years and it became one of the most performed of their works.
