In 2007 Galpão celebrated 25 years of theater. In this quart of a century there have been many accomplishments and the company has become a reference for Brazilian theater. Always willing to experiment, Galpão consolidated its identity as an actor’s ensemble that invites directors to its productions. The company’s distinct theater is the result of a series of encounters with directors such as Fernando Linares, Paulinho Polka, Eid Ribeiro, Gabriel Villela, Cacá Carvalho, Paulo José, Ulisses Cruz, Paulo de Moraes, among many others.
The exchange with theater ensembles and movements from everywhere in Brazil was essential for Galpão to become what it is today. From the beginning the company has searched for its roots in street and popular theater. Today, Galpão is a company that regularly tours around the country, reaching every region in Brazil from north to south, having also performed in 17 European countries, the US, Canada and Latin America. |
