
Inês Peixoto was born in Belo Horizonte in 1960. After high school she joined UFMG’s Teatro Universitário [University Theater] and later studied drama at Palácio das Artes. At that time Inês made a living making and selling handcrafts. She appeared for the first time as a professional actress in the cast of A viagem do Barquinho, a children’s play. Two other productions followed: "Brasil, mame-o ou deixe-o" and "Quando fui morto em Cuba." In 1985, Alysson Vaz invited Inês Peixoto to replace someone in the cast of Luiz Alberto de Abreu’s "Foi bom meu bem," directed by Márcio Machado. After three successful years and several tours with “Foi bom meu bem,” Inês appeared next to Walmir José in the musical comedy "Cais do corpo." in 1987 actors and musicians from the cast of “Cais do corpo” started a band called Veludo Cotelê, "The World’s Greatest Brega-Rock Band." Inês was one of the singers in this band, an extremely popular gig in Belo Horizonte that also toured all over the country. At the same time Inês Peixoto worked as a singer in Veludo Cotelê, she produced and acted next to Amauri Reis and Dílson Mayron in "Casablanca," a play directed by Iara de Novaes. “Casablanca” was very successful and Inês Peixoto was invited to a workshop directed by Gabriel Villela in São Paulo as part of the production of "Hoje é dia de rock." In March 1992, Inês Peixoto was invited by Gabriel Villela to be in the cast of Galpão’s "Romeu e Julieta," and she has been an active member of Grupo Galpão ever since. Em seguida participou de “A Rua da Amargura,” “Um Molière Imaginário,” “Partido,” “Um Trem Chamado Desejo,” “O Inspetor Geral,” and "Um Homem é Um Homem." In cinema Inês Peixoto has worked in “Vinho de Rosas”, “5 Frações de Uma Quase História,” “Outono,” “Tricoteios,” and “O crime da atriz.” On television Inês has participated in “A Paixão Segundo Ouro Preto” and “Hoje é Dia de Maria” (I e II). |
