Partido (Broken)

1 / 5

Synopsis

The Viscount Medardo de Terralba returns from the war broken in two. Only the mean half of Medardo returns to Terralba, bewildering his family, servants and countryman, who had waited anxiously for him. Someone observes everything with eyes filled with wonder and curiosity: it's Menino (Little Boy), nephew to Medardo, narrator from the novel "O Visconde Partido ao Meio" published by Ítalo Calvino, in 1951.

It is from this boys' point of view, whose life transforms day by day, under the influx of the transformations brought on by the broken Vicount, that we follow the story of the beings of Terralba, a place where doubt kicks in and nothing seems whole anymore.

“Partido” has free adaptation by Cacá Brandão to Ítalo Calvino's novel, production by Grupo Galpão, direction by Cacá Carvalho and scenario and costumes by Márcio Medina. The production marks Grupo Galpão's 17 years of history and their encounter with actor and director Cacá Carvalho.
